The early intervention programme at Tamana is a mother and child program which provides comprehensive services to 0-6 year olds who have an established risk, a development delay, autism or are considered to be environmentally or biologically at risk. As the identification and intervention is done at a very early age, most of these children are being mainstreamed into regular schools. The child has to be accompanied by a parent, family member or caregiver. The caregiver is given training to conduct the activities of the centre at home.
Early intervention is aimed at:
Accelerating the rate of development of the child.
Acquisition of new behaviour skills.
Increase the child’s level of independence.
Early detection and prevention of secondary handicaps.
Minimize effect of handicapping condition.

School Readiness Programme
The Early Intervention Program functions as a foundational school readiness initiative designed to equip toddlers and preschool-aged children with the essential cognitive, behavioural, social, and motor skills required for a smooth transition into formal education. Through individualized therapies, structured learning environments, and play-based activities, the program nurtures developmental milestones and fosters self-confidence, communication, and adaptive behaviour. In doing so, it not only supports each child’s unique needs but also prepares them for successful integration into inclusive educational settings, where they can learn and thrive alongside their typically developing peers.
