Students with moderate to severe category of mental retardation are introduced to pre- vocational training once the students reach the age of 14. Having limited mental capacities these students cannot be expected to continue in a purely educational program till adulthood like their normal counterparts. After they have grasped functional academics The students are equipped with a specialised skill as per their potential to effect economic independence and self reliance. These trained skills can be carried out from home under the supervision of any family member or attendant.
The areas of vocational training are varied and dynamic. The students are introduced to a vocation on the basis of their ability, interest and aptitude. The products made by the students are available for sale on various digital platforms, through exhibitions, events and through our centres. This also enables us raise awareness about the abilities and potential of the differently abled and gives them a sense of empowerment and satisfaction.

Sun Drying Unit
The main objective of the solar drying of fruit and vegetables is to impart training and engage the young adults at Tamana in small-scale food processing enterprise for the purpose of creating employment opportunities for them. This has increased student's awareness and acceptance of fruit and vegetables. Through the Food preservation techniques they learn more about the health benefits of different food items.
Terrace Herb Gardening
As part of the Eat Healthy Nutrition Education program, students have been introduced to and taught the concept of growing vegetables and herbs. They have undergone training in the process of growing and sowing seeds, watering and pruning seedlings and looking after the full grown plant. With simple easy to follow guidelines, students learn more about the origins of vegetables and herbs. Vegetables such as tomato, eggplant, coriander, chilly, spinach, cluster beans, okra, lettuce etc are grown during summer while cabbage, cauliflower, fenugreek, radish, green peas, cowpea, carrot and gourd was grown by them in winter. This skill offers innumerable health benefits for such individuals such as fitness, improved motor skills, stimulation and relaxation, nutrition education and healthy eating habits.
Photography
Photography is a profession that is growing by the day. The cameras are getting easier to use and a lot of new avenues are opening up. In sync with the same, we have recently set up a photography unit as a part of our skill development program our ‘special’ students that covers the following aspects.
Orientation – Know your Faculty & Peers. Discussion on Digital Camera
Knowing your Camera possibilities
Practical Shoot in the Campus – Usage of Aperture, Shutter Speed & Depth of Field
Digital Printing Unit
In January 2016, we embarked upon an exciting journey with the establishment of a Digital Printing Unit. This is a place where children learn the art of fusing technology with creativity to create a visual magic.
Overcoming all difficulties, for the last two years the students have successfully completed bulk orders for corporates, schools, International Medical conferences etc. Our products have received a wide appreciation and acceptance by Indigo Airlines, Microsoft, Snapdeal, Google, CII, Lotus Valley International Schools, JP International Schools, Medanta Hospital amongst others.
Sublimation truly means lifting the spirit, and it has indeed helped our students achieve the same. Their achievement cannot be measured in words, but it’s light can be seen in the uniqueness of the products and in their maker’s smiles.
Our product range includes mugs, trays, totes & bags, clocks, frames, beautiful sarees & stoles and much more. The students are trained in the areas of sublimation printing, and once they are able, the entire process is carried out by them independently, with minimal supervision. The wide range of products are made in house, with sublimation printers at the premises itself.
